Colleen Shelman, 87

Colleen Shelman, 87 of Ammon, ID, passed away Friday, Nov. 21, 2014 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, ID.

She was born Oct. 14, 1927 in Aberdeen, ID, the daughter of Robert Otto Lee and Chloe Wride Lee.

Colleen has spent the majority of her life in the Aberdeen and Springfield area. She graduated from Aberdeen High School.

On April 7, 1945, she married Donald Shelman in Aberdeen, ID. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in all the auxiliaries of the ward and stake. She served as a temple worker 17 1/2 years.

She was a member of the Domestic Science Club in Springfield, Bingham County League of Women Voters and also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

Colleen was a wonderful wife and mother. She and Donald spent 69 years building a home and family on the farm in Springfield. Colleen’s two main loves in life were the Gospel of Jesus Christ and her loving family. She was a fabulous cook and enjoyed keeping up on current events.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Shelman of Ammon; children, Dean (Norene) Shelman of Burns, OR, Kent (Wendy) Shelman of Pocatello, Jan (Roger) Cooper of Shelley, Terri (Boyd) Calder of Chehalis, WA, Tod (Sue Ann) Shelman of Springfield; brothers, Bob (Vivian) Lee of Cottonwood, CA and Ron Lee of Scottsdale, AZ; sister, Judy Broadhead of Blackfoot and 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one great-grandson.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, at the Lakeview LDS Chapel. The family met with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S.
