Anne Marie Locke

December 23, 1924 – June 12, 2015

Resident of Santa Clara

Beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Anne entered heaven on June 12, 2015 at the age of 90. She passed away in the comfort of her home of 60 years surrounded by her devoted family. Anne was born on Dec. 23, 1924, in Aberdeen, ID. She was the second child of David and Georgina (Carter) Strang. She was raised on the family farm in Aberdeen, graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1942, and moved to California soon after.

Anne married the love of her life, Calvin Eugene Locke, in 1951. They made their home in Santa Clara and raised two wonderful children. She was a devoted wife and mother who worked tirelessly for her family. She worked at Mariani’s Restaurant for 25 years and made countless friends there. In 1979 at age 55, she received her Associate in Arts degree from DeAnza College. She also worked for many charities, including the Ladies Guild at St. Justin’s Catholic Church. The Daughters of the American Revolution was an organization especially close to her heart, and she never missed an opportunity to give back, especially when it came to helping our nation’s military veterans.

Although Anne loved the beautiful Santa Clara Valley and made it her home for 70 years, she never forgot her roots and love of Idaho. She spent many summers there with her husband and children, staying on the family farm in Aberdeen while visiting relatives and friends.

She loved family genealogy, reading, cooking, baking, sewing, and hosting holiday parties. Her St. Patrick’s Day party was especially looked forward to by all. She loved spending time in the great outdoors on road trips, camping trips, and boating excursions. Her infectious smile, laughter, kind heart, and giving soul will never be forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Calvin Eugene Locke; brother, Carter Strang; and sister, Margaret West. She is survived by her children: Susan Locke VanDelinder (Greg) and David Locke (Pam); grandchildren, Veronica Farris, Marshall Farris, Mitchell Farris, Katy Locke and Zachary Locke; nieces, Annette Elrod (Lawrence) and Kathleen Watson; nephew, Steve Kelley (Barbara); grand-nieces Emily Elrod Cardenas (Rene) and Elizabeth Watson Calasopa; and grand-nephew Eric Watson.

Sincere and heartfelt thanks to Rama and James PeBenito for the love, devotion, and care they gave to Anne.

Visitation and Rosary will be held on Thursday, June 18 at 7 p.m. at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Boulevard, Santa Clara. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Justin’s Catholic Church, 2655 Homestead Rd., Santa Clara, on Friday, June 19, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, 490 Lincoln Street, Santa Clara.
