Alvina L. Savage, 90, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016. She was born on Oct. 28, 1925 in Fairview, ID, the sixth child of Lloyd Lewis Savage and Dora Bowen Lewis.
She married Ray Savage on May 25, 1940. They lived in Springfield, Aberdeen and finally settled in American Falls. From this union they had seven children. Mom and Dad were together for 61 years, until his death in 2001. Mom worked most of her life from restaurants to dry goods, to potato warehouses to processing plants; finally ending her working career at Lamb Weston in American Falls.
Mom enjoyed fishing, hunting, picnics and any and all family get togethers, plus she truly enjoyed herding sheep with Ray.
One of Mom’s biggest surprises was when she found out she had nine step-brothers and step-sisters living in the Boise area. It has been a truly enjoyable find.
Mom is survived by: her children, Priscilla (Tony Jackson) Norris, Melvin (Karen) Savage, Brenda Robinson, Doug Savage, Marilyn Savage; special friend, Donna Benzing; daughter-in-law, Kathy Savage; sisters, Wanda (James) Preble, Jessie Hurd; brother-in-law, John (Ida) Savage; sister-in-law, Beverly Lewis; 21 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Mom was preceded in death by: her husband, Ray; her parents; sisters, Lucille and Pauline; brothers, Frank, Kenneth, Hurbert, Lawrence and John “Hoppy”; son, Vaughn; daughter, Beverly Ann; grandchildren, Robert Roberts, John Campbell and Cory Savage.
As per Mom’s wishes she will be cremated and a simple graveside service will be held in Aberdeen at a later date.
For all of the special family and friends we may have not mentioned please know that you are not forgotten.
As a family we would like to leave a very heartfelt thank you to Encompass Home Health and Hospice, especially to Susan, Dr. Fenstermaker, Tia, Remmy, Rod, Karen, Valona and everyone else that took such great care of Mom. God Bless all of you.
