Our most prominent landmark

Perhaps our most prominent
local landmark is the concrete
cylinder that pokes out of the
reservoir for most of the year,
the mark by which we locals
know how low the water is
getting – “it’s past the elevator
now”.
Built in 1912 by the Flinton
Construction Company, it was
the first concrete grain elevator
built on the original townsite
of American Falls. All previous elevators were built with
wooden cribbed construction….
