Linda Jones

Linda Thompson Jones passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 2, 2014. Linda was born on Feb. 5, 1941 to Lorias Elmo Thompson and Luell Ameda Crawfroth in Rupert, ID. At the age of four the family moved to American Falls, ID, where she attended school.

She lived most of her life in Pocatello. She worked for New Day Products for 24 years, the Sheep Shop for over 25 years and also worked for Molinelli’s Jeweler and the Bannock Hotel.

She married Alan Dee Van Sickle in December of 1958 and together they had three boys: Larry, Jerry and Brad Van Sickle. They later divorced. In November of 1973 she married Eddy Jones in Reno, NV, and together they had a daughter: Jami Rifelj.

Linda loved to volunteer and work with the Bannock Humane Society. She worked for years with the Humane Society taking in rescued animals and adopting them out. She also loved to read and was a great cook. Another joy in her life was working with special needs clients and she was just recently honored with the Pat Young Humanitarian Award.

She is survived by: sons, Larry (Trudy) Van Sickle of Boise, ID, Jerry Van Sickle of Pocatello, ID, Brad (Rachel) Van Sickle of American Falls, ID; daughter, Jami (John) Rifelj of Pocatello, ID; two sisters, June Collings and Connie DeJulis; four brothers, Gerald LaMar Thompson, Lee Thompson, Frank Thompson and Jay Nelson; seven grandchildren, Amanda Van Sickle, Jennifer Andersen, Michael Van Sickle, Cassie Van Sickle, Mitchell Van Sickle, Alexis Rifelj and John Rifelj, IV; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Bernice Campbell; brother, Don Thompson; and a niece and a nephew.

There will be a celebration of her life for family at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 7, at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck. Family will receive friends at an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home following the celebration of life. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in her honor to the Pocatello Animal Shelter or the Bannock Humane Society.
