JoAnn Broadhead Barrus

JoAnn Broadhead Barrus, 79, of Idaho Falls, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at her home. She was under the care of her loving family.

JoAnn was born Jan. 8, 1935, in Brigham City, UT, to Grant Morris Broadhead and Elva Josephine Wight Broadhead. She grew up and attended schools in Salt Lake City and graduated from East High School.

On April 5, 1955, she married William Russell Barrus in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. They were blessed with three sons, Lee, Bart and Russ. She was a proud mother of her boys, grandmother of 13, and great-grandmother of seven. They moved to Idaho Falls a year ago.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served faithfully in many callings over the years. JoAnn loved missionary work and served four full-time missions with her husband, Bill, first to Rochester, NY, then twice to Martin’s Cove, WY, and the fourth to Nauvoo, IL.

JoAnn is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bill; three sons, William Lee (Trish) Barrus of Orem, UT, Bart Ken (Laura) Barrus of Newbury Park, CA, and Russell Duane (Betsy) Barrus of Ammon; and a brother, Kenneth Grant (Kay) Broadhead of Kanab, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter-in-law, Diane, wife of William Lee Barrus.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Idaho Falls LDS Woodruff 3rd Ward, 2055 Coronado Street, with Bishop Bryant Hafen officiating. The family visited with friends from 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial was in the Brigham City Cemetery in Brigham City, UT.
