Jerome Kaufman

Moundridge, KS – Jerome Vallee Kaufman was born Oct. 28, 1938, to Willard “Bill” and Linda Flickner Kaufman. He attended farm schools and Moundridge schools, graduating in 1956.

On Jan. 21, 1961, he married Bonnie Schroeder, daughter of Armin and Katherine Schroeder of American Falls, ID. To this union four children were born: Michael, William, Kathy and Jeffery. Jerome and his brother, Darrell, started Kaufman Brothers. Later, he and his son, Will, formed the business, Kaufman Trenching and Excavating. He was also a lifelong farmer.

Jerome was a member of the West Zion Mennonite Church in Moundridge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and had a lifelong love of basketball. His children and grandchildren were very important to him.

After several years of poor health, he passed away on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015. Memorial services were held on Sunday, Oct. 25, at the West Zion Mennonite Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Willard and Linda Kaufman; son, Jeffery and grandson, Chad. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; sons, Mike (Connie) Kaufman and Will (Ellen) Kaufman, all of Moundridge and daughter, Kathy (Randy) Preheim of Peabody, KS; and nine grandchildren. Memorial donations are suggested to Moundridge Historical Society or Pine Village Nursing Home in care of the Moundridge Funeral Home, P.O. Box 410, Moundridge, KS 67107.
