Shirley Phythian Jackson, 73, of American Falls, passed away at home Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015.
Shirley was born to Frank and Maude Pfeiff on March 11, 1942 in Fowler, CO. She was the youngest of 10 children. She spent her childhood on the family farm, 10 miles north of Fowler. She learned a strong work ethic, doing her fair share of the chores. When Shirley was 17, her dad retired and they moved to Fowler where she graduated from high school.
Shirley married Jim Phythian on June 10, 1961. Jim and Shirley lived in Rocky Ford, CO, and La Junta, CO, area where Shirley worked as a bookkeeper, homemaker and a mother to Randy and Kimberley. In May of 1975, Jim and Shirley moved to American Falls, ID, and purchased a Gambles store. Shirley helped run the store and did the bookkeeping. Shirley was a talented seamstress and loved to crochet. She was a perfectionist when it came to making afghans.
After 29 years of marriage, Shirley and Jim parted ways. She never remarried.
She is survived by her children, Randy and Kimberly (Phythian) Crane; her two grandchildren, Harold (Allison) and Bradley; three great-grandchildren, Aden, Taylor and Jack; three sisters and one brother. She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband, daughter-in-law, four brothers and one sister.
Services were under the direction of Davis-Rose Mortuary, American Falls.
