Kenneth LeRoy Funk

Kenneth LeRoy Funk, 79, was born Dec. 15, 1935 in American Falls, ID, and passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015 in Roseville, CA, after complications due to a heart attack. Ken, a resident of Citrus Heights, CA, was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Lynne, who was the love of his life. He is survived by his son Aaron Funk, daughter-in-law Amber Funk, and grandchildren Tristan, Fiona and Alyssa Funk. Also remembered by his siblings: Euleda Auernig, Ray and Betty Funk of Eagle, ID, and Alan and Connie Funk of Aberdeen, ID.

He dedicated his life to teaching the blind and deaf after graduating from Westminster College and San Francisco State University. Ken, a special education teacher and technologist for San Juan Unified School District, retired after 30 plus years of service. Over the years he volunteered for many causes such as the ALS Society, Sacramento Center for Assistive Technology, and Books for the Blind. Most recently he shared his love of trains by spending over 3000 hours as a docent at the California State Railroad Museum. Ken was heavily involved with his church, most notably as a former organist and a past vestry member. The memorial service will be held Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 3 p.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 11430 Fair Oaks Blvd, Fair Oaks, CA 95628.
